Pierluigi Siano (M’09–SM'14) received the M.Sc. degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in information and electrical engineering from the University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy, in 2001 and 2006, respectively. He is a Professor and Scientific Director of the Smart Grids and Smart Cities Laboratory with the Department of Management & Innovation Systems, University of Salerno.


He has co-authored more than 480 papers including more than 250 international journal papers that received in Scopus more than 8400 citations with an H-index equal to 46. He has been the Chair of the IES TC on Smart Grids.


His research activities are centered on demand response, on the integration of distributed energy resources in smart grids and on planning and management of power systems.


In 2019 included among the Highly Cited Researchers list from the ISI Web of Science Group for the Engineering category.

According to a new study by researchers at Stanford University in the US: in the year 2017 he has been ranked 6th among all world scientists when considering his associated scientific fields "Electrical & Electronic Engineering" and "Energy".

As highlighted by the "Essential Science Indicators" of the Web of Science Core Collection of WoS, author of many highly cited papers that have received enough citations to be placed in the top 1% articles of the academic sector of Engineering.
