BIOGRAPHY

Jiann-Shiou Yang received his M.S. degree in control engineering from the Institute of Electronics, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, in 1978, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, in 1983 and 1988, respectively.

Dr. Yang has been with the Department of Electrical at the University of Minnesota, Duluth since September 1988, where he is currently a Professor.

He was the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 2007 to 2018. 

Dr. Yang has published over 150 technical journal and conference articles and book chapters and has also been invited to serve on many conference organizing/program committees and conference sessions chairs.

Dr. Yang’s research interests include robust control, system theory, computer-aided control system design, optimization, and control applications.

He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society.
